A quote from Rick Warren -

“Our buildings have been closed, but the church is not a building! We are a living, breathing body. The church is a family, not a fortress! We are a people, not a place! We’re an army of servants, not an event of attenders. You’ve been taught many times that a crowd is not a church, and that church is so much more than a weekend service! The church operates 168 hours a week!”

Don't wait for the government, folks. This morning, after a conversation and prayer for someone dear to me, I decided to help them monetarily since their business is closed down because of the pandemic. Just a few minutes ago, one of our members posted how their landlord cut their rent in half for this month. For those of us who are still working, let's pray and watch for people in our midst who can use a helping hand, whether it's food, clothing, or money. And may God bless you richly for your gift!

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”  Acts 20:35

Friends,

As shutdowns are being ordered around the country and “social distancing” becomes a new phrase, I feel impressed to share some comforting words with you.

Thousands of years ago, God judged Egypt with several plagues for not allowing the Israelite’s to go free after 4 centuries of slavery. Before the final plague, God gave these instructions in regard to the very first Passover:

11“Be fully dressed, wear your sandals, and carry your walking stick in your hand. Eat the meal with urgency, for this is the LORD’s Passover. 12On that night I will pass through the land of Egypt and strike down every firstborn son and firstborn male animal in the land of Egypt. I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt, for I am the LORD! 13But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 21:11-13)

I can imagine that there was much anxiety during that long, stressful night (They couldn’t leave their homes, either). But, God fulfilled His promise to Israel, and they were finally set free!

May we draw strength and hope from this event, believing that despite what is going on around us, “this too shall pass!”

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Blessings,

Pastor Dave
